The first step is to request an application. The application provides us with basic information about you or your child’s needs, your concerns, and behavioral history.
Return the completed application by mail or scan and send by email. For those seeking insurance coverage we will contact the specialist who provided an autism diagnosis in order to gain a medical necessity letter, and then we will contact your insurance company to receive preauthorization for ABA services.
Once you or your child are authorized for services, we will contact you to schedule an initial intake appointment in the office, and determine appropriate placement in a social group or individual services as needed. The initial intake appointment is about 90 minutes long and involves a parent/guardian interview and a child interview.
Clients with social anxiety but no additional diagnosis may access services with Horizons Social Coaching with self-payment for services as most insurances will only reimburse ABA providers for children with an autism diagnosis. However, ABA is a very effective treatment for a wide variety of developmental needs; contact your insurance provider if your child has another diagnosis (such as social communication disorder, ODD, or ADHD) to determine if they allow for ABA services for that particular diagnosis.
